Is the Election Commission Biased? Congress President Questions EC’s Role in Alleged Voter Fraud
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has publicly questioned the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) impartiality, suggesting it might be acting as a “back office” for the BJP. This follows allegations of voter manipulation during the 2023 Karnataka Assembly elections.
Kharge Highlights Concerns Over Alleged Voter Deletion in Karnataka
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Kharge shared a media report detailing the alleged voter fraud. The report claims that the ECI has failed to provide crucial documents necessary to investigate accusations of forged Form 7 applications, which were used to remove eligible voters from the electoral rolls in the Aland Constituency.
Kharge outlined the timeline of events, stating, “Ahead of the May 2023 Karnataka elections, Congress had exposed a massive deletion of voters in the Aland Constituency. Thousands of voters were stripped of their rights through a very sophisticated operation of forging Form 7 applications.”
Demand for Transparency and Impartiality from the Election Commission
The Congress president’s accusations raise serious concerns about the integrity of the electoral process. The lack of transparency from the ECI fuels these suspicions and underscores the need for a thorough investigation to ensure fairness and restore public trust in the election system.
