Kochi, June 10, 2025 — What if every goal scored on the pitch could echo beyond the stadium and into the soil of our planet? That’s exactly what the Kerala Blasters Army, the official and spirited fan group of Kerala Blasters FC, set out to achieve with their unique green initiative — “A Tree for a Goal.”
Held between June 1 and June 7 across all districts of Kerala, the campaign turned football triumphs into seeds of environmental hope. 52 saplings were planted, representing the 52 goals Kerala Blasters FC scored during the 2024–25 season — encompassing the Durand Cup, Indian Super League (ISL), and Super Cup.
⚽ Where Football Passion Meets Earth’s Future
The idea was rooted in a heartfelt motto: One Goal. One Tree. With every celebration on the field came a commitment off it — to nurture life, not just cheer for it.
“This campaign was our way of celebrating each goal beyond the stadium,” said a member of the Kerala Blasters Army. “We wanted to give each strike a second life — one that grows, breathes, and serves our planet.”
🌱 Leaders, Legends & Loyal Fans Join Hands
The movement saw inspiring participation, including the presence of Sri. P. Prasad, Kerala’s Agriculture Minister, who added his support to the cause. T.G. Purushothaman, Kerala Blasters’ assistant coach and Santosh Trophy winner, stood beside fans to plant saplings — bridging football legacy with environmental action.
The campaign’s momentum was made possible by the efforts of the fan club’s state committee members: Abhijith K.S., Sobhith Joshy, Gokul, Raghunandan, and Ramshad — who coordinated across the state to turn football fandom into forestry.
💛 The Army Beyond the Game
Since its inception in 2014, the Kerala Blasters Army has defined what it means to be more than fans. Their voice booms from the West Gallery of Kochi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, but their presence echoes across communities — through blood donation drives, awareness campaigns, youth events, and now, a growing green movement.
“A Tree for a Goal” is not a one-time act. It’s a new tradition, a legacy that will grow season after season.
🌍 Looking to Tomorrow: One Goal, One Forest
This initiative is only the beginning. Plans are underway to expand the campaign by involving schools, volunteers, and local eco clubs — bringing more hearts and hands into the mission. One day, the dream is to see an entire “Forest of Goals” — where every tree tells the story of a goal, a game, and a greener world.
“In football, we aim for the net. In life, we aim for the roots,” said Abhijith K.S., lead coordinator. “This is how we make every goal count twice — once in the match, once in the Earth.”
