Bihar’s Mahagathbandhan Vows to Repeal Waqf Act if Elected: Tejashwi Yadav Leads Protest

Thousands of concerned citizens from across India converged on Patna’s Gandhi Maidan on Sunday to voice their opposition to the Waqf Amendment Act. The protest, organized by the Muslim organization Imarat-e-Shariah, resonated with people from Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand, where the organization primarily operates.

Tejashwi Yadav Promises Action

Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, addressed the crowd and made a significant commitment. He pledged that if the Mahagathbandhan is elected to power in Bihar, they will repeal the Waqf Act. This statement drew strong reactions from the attendees.

INDIA Bloc Shows Solidarity

The protest garnered support from various political figures, including prominent members of the INDIA bloc. Among those present were CPI(ML) leader Dipankar Bhattacharya, Rajya Sabha member Imran Pratapgarhi, and Lok Sabha member Pappu Yadav. Several other MPs and MLAs associated with the INDIA bloc also joined the demonstration, showcasing a united front against the amendment.

Messages of support from Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi and Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, read by the Bihar Congress state president, further solidified the significance of the protest.
