RSS Demands Apology for 1975 Emergency Constitutional “Tampering”

The RSS has strongly condemned the alterations made to the Indian Constitution during the 1975 Emergency. General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale asserted that the inclusion of the words “socialism” and “secularism” in the Preamble constituted a “tampering” with the nation’s founding document.

Hosabale’s Call for Accountability

Speaking about the historical event, Hosabale emphasized the need for those responsible for the alleged constitutional violations to apologize to the nation. He argued that the changes made during the Emergency were a betrayal of the original intentions of the Constitution’s framers.

The Debate over “Socialism” and “Secularism”

The insertion of “socialism” and “secularism” into the Preamble through the 42nd Amendment has been a subject of ongoing debate. The RSS’s view reflects a particular interpretation of this historical event and its implications for India’s constitutional framework.
